Early 1900s...hobo style?
"Circa 1910-1917, thick knit shawl collar cardigan, mao collar button up, a big beat moleskine, a sweet sash and ‘tache, and are those wool slacks Engineered Garments? It’s kind of a shame that an apparent hobo from back then is dressed better than 75% of people today." I agree.

Winter Biking
OG Pant Winterweight Dry Gray
OG Pant 4Season Black Lotus
They come from Outliers, a brand-new Brooklyn marque devoted to performance over form. In this case, that means pants that repel water, grease and stains and can stand up to the grinding gears of the average bike commute.

If you're in San Francisco anytime soon...
Check out Alembic Bar. Although I typically don't post non-fashion stories on S&P, this is scotch we're talking about, so close enough...
This Haight-area bar/restaurant specializes in whiskey and scotch...my kind of place. I will admit, I started with a cocktail, the Blood & Sand. A mix of scotch whiskey, cherry brandy, sweet vermouth and fresh orange juice served ice cold and up. It was delicious, and complimented the food quite well. I topped off the meal with a glass of Glenmorangie single malt scotch from the highlands. It was a perfect scotch for me, spicy but not too smoky. All in all, The Alembic was a great place to drink, dine, and relax. If you're in San Francisco, or planning to be there soon, put this on your list of to-dos.
Check out the website for a complete listing of cocktails, drinks, and more.

Camper Shoes by Hayon
Inspired by tap/dance shoes for their simple design and color scheme, but high quality and functionality.
"I wanted to make a simple shoe but one that had character, in solid colours but that were special enough to give identity to a way of dressing."

“The men’s wear industry right now is the very best it’s ever been,” said Gordon Richardson, design director for the U.K.’s Topman. “Men’s wear is a significant growth area and, as such, is a crucial element in our business strategy,” agreed Steve Lawton, men’s wear director at New Look, another British retailer.
an American Classic: Pendleton
I've done a lot of traveling lately and I've had the opportunity to check out some of the nation's top thrift and vintage stores. In every one, I've found a stack of Pendleton shirts, and they always caught my eye. What began as a blanket manufacturer, the company started producing their iconic wool shirts for men largely as utility items in the early 20th century. They were worn for warmth and protection from the elements by those who worked outdoors. The company has been a family-owned business for more than 140 years and going strong. Truly an American classic.

J Crew Spring 09
A new friend and great blogger, posted a bit about J Crew's Spring Collection. J Crew has been doing it right lately. Last week I had the chance to finally visit the J Crew Liquor Store in Tribeca. I was impressed.

Creatures of the Wind Spring 09
Finally some menswear from Chicago that's worth looking at. I love seeing this line on other blogs because this label is more special to me than some others since I've worked with the company personally. Shane and Chris (the designers) have a lot in store for them and I'm excited to see them along their way. Anyway, in the grand scheme of things, Creatures of the Wind brings a unique look to menswear (a task that is getting harder and harder to do). As you can tell from these photos, they have a womenswear line as well.
