Endovanera Fall '08

Model stinks. Clothing is good.

Revolve Clothing

This online store has some great stuff...I look to it and Active Endeavors for emerging labels with great quality. Although I have to say, after a quick browse, I wasn't too impressed with the Spring offerings on revolve. Why is everyone being so safe? I hate the safe trend.

April 77 Store in Paris

Another piece of news stolen from We Are The Market:

Vintage record label and denim producer April 77 has just taken up residence in a retail space right down the block from the company's headquarters. Designer Brice Partouche tapped interiors guru Steven Thomas after reading a book on Biba, the '70s retail monolith that Thomas also designed. The circular space recalls a turntable with its dark vinyl'esque floors and gleaming steel beams, a choice that complements Partouche's rock-n-roll-inspired, super-skinny unisex denim styles and fitted double-breasted blazers. Vintage radios are stashed throughout the displays to further address the line's affinity for beats. (Source: Refinery29/Selectism)

Looks Like the Ol' Employer's Doing Well...

Amid this full-on recession, one company (my previous employers, Diesel) seem to be doing just fine. They're opening a new Diesel store in Manhattan, and they recently launched their Black Gold Collection, a higher-end, edgier Diesel that isn't their Diesel Denim Gallery line.

Anyway, here's what We Are The Market said:

Looks like retail isn't looking grim for everyone. As DNR reports, "Diesel will open a Fifth Avenue flagship here at the end of the year. The Molvena, Italy-based denim and sportswear maker has signed a lease for a three-floor space at 685 Fifth Avenue, on the corner of 54th Street, from Gucci Group, which owns the building. The prime retail location previously housed the Gucci flagship, which was moved to a much larger space at 725 Fifth Avenue that opened last month. The 19,555-square-foot Diesel flagship will be considered the company’s highest-profile store to date, according to Renzo Rosso, Diesel’s president and founder. “In 1996, we opened the very first Diesel store worldwide in New York on Lexington Avenue. The opening of Fifth Avenue is not only the achievement of a great goal, but also represents, for Diesel, the beginning of a new adventure,” he said in a statement. "

Band Of Outsides for Gap?

I don't know if I like this but, as part of the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund (one of my favorite and much-looked to awards), Gap has collaborated with 3.1 Philip Lim, Band of Outsiders, Michael Bastian, Philip Ctangi and Threeasfour to create capsule collections for Gap.

This initiative also happened last year with Doo Ri, Rodarte, and Thakoon.

The looks will center around a "white shirt" redesign. How boring. But still there is a lot of talent behind these, so maybe we'll get something good...even if that means we have to go into Gap to buy them.

The collection will be stocked in all U.S stores, Canada, the U.K and Japan and will include both menswear and jewelery. The shirts will be available from April 15.

GQ/CFDA WINNER...ENGINEERED GARMENTS

Engineered Garments won the GQ/CFDA 2008 Award. The award is the menswear version of the well-known CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund (with previous winner Rogan).

Props to Daiki Suzuki (EG's designer) for beating some really great competitors: Steven Alan, Gilded Age, Obedient Sons, Rag & Bone, and Spurr.
